ICT Games Look, cover, write and check This game enables children to practice a variety of spelling patterns.

DJ Cow's Spelling Patterns This link provides a number of word searches which reinforce the teaching of certain spelling patterns. When you have found a word, click the first and last letter.

Sentence-making - Penguins on Ice This link offers 3 sentence-making activities: ‘Make a Sentence’, ‘Which mark?’ and ‘Make it Interesting’. It is best to view it on the Big Screen option. Each activity takes a little time to load. There is also a printable activity sheet which gives a flavour of the game using some of the questions

The Patchworker Pupils sequence the words in the correct order. This link leads to an on-line game for pupils, a printable activity and offers teachers advice on the use of this resource.

The Magic Key Literacy games set around Oxford Reading Tree characters. Useful for teaching capital letters and full stops.


 
Capital Letters and Full Stops Activities include matching upper case letters with lower case ones and asking pupils to punctuate sentences correctly. Worksheets provided.
N.B. Pupils punctuate the sentences by dragging and dropping the correct capital letter / fullstop into the right places. There are 2 starter activities and a plenary included over and above the main session.

 

Verb Tenses

 
Power point - Verb tenses [Ppt] This presentation looks at the present, past and future tenses.

Blast the Rocket In this game pupils have to select the correct spelling of the past tense form of a series of verbs. Using the Big Screen option is easiest.

 

Letter Formation

 
Interactive Alphabet This site takes children through the letters of the alphabet and shows them how the letter is formed. By clicking on the ear symbol the letter sound will be heard and if you click on the loudspeaker the letter name will be heard. (The first page is the alphabet - click the right arrow to move to letter sounds)
