Teaching Ideas
These ideas come from teachers in Scottish
Borders schools - many thanks to you all!
Use the sound display meter to encourage quiet readers to
speak out - can you get the meter level above a certain point?
Graph early years pupils playing a regular beat on eg a drum.
A regular beat should show a regular pattern on the sound graph trace. Visual
learners may find that seeing a picture of the sound they are making helps them
to produce a more regular beat. Similarly, pupils being asked to play an
instrument loudly or softly can have a visual clue as to the sound they are
producing. (Thanks to Carol Hunter, Knowepark)
Measure light levels when growing seeds in a Plants topic.
What light levels cause restricted growth?
